Volunteer Coordinator

Incourage and Safe Harbor are introducing a shared Volunteer Coordinator position that will play a pivotal role in building a vibrant community of passionate individuals who are dedicated to making a difference.

This position is not just about managing volunteers; it’s about creating a cohesive team that works together to streamline volunteer efforts, foster greater engagement, and amplify our impact on those we serve. Imagine the synergy of our teams coming together to train and empower volunteers who will directly support victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault!

This shared position will support Incourage and Safe Harbor, primarily covering Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties. The role will coordinate efforts to recruit and train volunteers who will provide vital support to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, as well as assist with non-victim-related duties. Responsibilities include training, scheduling, and managing interns and volunteers to ensure effective service delivery.

Work Hours:
This is an hourly position, requiring 20-28 hours per week. Flexibility is key, as hours will include days, with some nights and weekends required. Travel may also be involved.

Key Job Duties:

  • Elevate the needs of the agencies by identifying how volunteers can help fulfill them.
  • Recruit, screen, train, schedule, support, and supervise a diverse group of volunteers (individuals and groups).
  • Develop, maintain, and expand collaborative relationships with community agencies, organizations, and schools to recruit volunteers.
  • Keep the volunteer training curriculum current and provide ongoing training for volunteers.
  • Oversee volunteer record-keeping and ensure compliance with grant performance goals.
  • Support community outreach and education by scheduling and attending events to raise awareness about the organizations and volunteer opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology or related degree; or equivalent experience
  • 1 year experience working with or managing volunteers
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing 
  • Able to work independently, set priorities, and be flexible 
  • Able to be supportive and non-judgmental
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to work with both youth and adults in a variety of settings with a commitment to and experience in working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles
  • Computer skills required, including knowledge of Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and WINDOWS
  • Able to use stairs frequently and lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
  • Bilingual a plus
